3 Rules for Domain Names:
- Keep is short if possible.
- Top level domains are your first choice: .com, .net, .org
- Make sure your primary keyword is in your domain name. This is the MOST important thing. If you sell radios, don’t buy a site like “funkysouds.c_m”, rather buy “radiosounds.c_m”
Having the right domain name is almost half the battle for good search rankings. In fact, if needed I would use any TLD such as .info if it meant I could get the right keyword in my domain. Too many people make the mistake of creating a cute domain name that does not relate to their primary keyword. Doing so will only create an uphill battle.
“But wait…”, you say. ”JammingSites.com is like that”. And you would be right. JammingSites was one of my domain naming mistakes. I was going to scrap the domain name, but I wanted to see what I needed to do to rank well despite the apparent disadvantage. You could say JammingSites is an experiment of mine, but I wouldn’t recommend you experiment too much!
